雨Day1998 ver.1.0

The title of this design means rainy day in 1998. It's designed for one of my doujin site. It was inspired Ballistic Kiss(the original title is 殺殺人、跳跳舞 in Cantonese and it's known as ドニー・イェンCOOL/Donnie Yen Cool in Japan).

In the end, I thought this is likely shrine made from the amalgamation of Ballistic Kiss and Ghostwire: Tokyo.

I put a comment titled "隙自語(隙あれば自分語り, roughly means unnecessarily self-talk)" from the demo site below.

隙自語

I worked on this design because I watched Ballistic Kiss and have come to really like the movie.


In Japan, Ballistic Kiss was released as ドニー・イェンCOOL (Donnie Yen COOL) with a strange　catchphrase: 「最も、死亡遊戯…。」('Most, Death Game….' I can't translate the phrase easy to understand, sorry). I associated the catchphrase and the story with 平成死亡遊戯(Heisei Shibou Yugi) by URBANGARDE. 90's INTERNET is one of the themes of Heisei Shibou Yugi, so I aimed to reproduce it.


At fiist, I thought to make a one page web site like the doujin sites made with no CSS by older geeks when I was a child. These style websites with technical arts or interesting fictions were so cool for me at that time.

But the cause of digging Wayback Machine for reference, I come to want to make my website looks like Windows98.


Also I searched images like PV of Androgynos / URBANGARDE and learned that Vaporwave and Synthwave.

I love BLUE HAMHAM so much and now I think they're influenced Vaporwave, too.


I wanted to show someone this design but I'm limitting access the website which using this, so I made demo page here.
